Toirano / Festa dei Gunbi
From 8 to 11 August. In Toirano every year the Festa dei Gunbi returns. Not just a village festival with music and good food, but also an appointment to meet and have fun.The village will be full of stalls and many artists who play and dance. One of the most anticipated events of the summer.
The Festa dei Gunbi usually takes place the first week of August, for four days there are markets of agricultural and artisan products and the Festa dei Frantoi (called gunbi or gumbi). In the evening the wineries of the historic center of Toirano open where you can taste the many local specialties: bruschetta, farinata, panizza, michettin or fried bread, sbirulini, breadsticks covered with bacon, vegetables in batter, peaches with Pigato and much more .
The “Festa dei Gunbi” returns to the town: the three usual large kitchens remain, the meat, the fish one and the “veg” one, respectful of the dictates of vegetarianism, but they will be located even more practical. The cuisine of the fish, in fact, will be less “peripheral” compared to the past editions and will be positioned in the courtyard of the former elementary schools (ed: Giardino dei cachi) near the Parco del Marchese.
And there will be six street-food points full of goodies: “Fried garden”, from this year in Piazza della Chiesa with its cones of gourmet fried and vegetarian couscous; in Piazza Libertà the inevitable crepes and tigelle of the “Lalla Rò” (Aunt Rosalia in Italian); from the junction of the Ponte della Strega the fragrant michettins; in via Polla “U fritu di Matetti” (in Italian “the fried of children”, but which actually appeals to all ages), from Geode the historical, beloved bruschetta; in the Cellar Cycnus panissa and farinata.
Through the city streets entertainment, juggling, stilt walkers, street artists and the juggling workshop for children and young people at the Parco del Marchese, a highly anticipated and appreciated event year after year.
In short, we talked about attention to safety, respect for the eating habits of all with vegetarian menus, space for children with animations … But it is not over! In fact, the flagship of this year is a further push forward in respect for the environment. The “Gunbi” have always stood out for the attention given to recycling, but this year dishes, dishes and other consumer products will be biodegradable and compostable.

The streets of the historic center and the Parco del Marchese will be animated with the traditional gastronomic exhibition and market exhibition.
For this return to the past and traditions, three kitchens will be organized: a meat cuisine in the Parco del Marchese, which will be close to the second fish cuisine. While the third, vegetarian cuisine, in the small square next to the town hall.
